Structural House Framing Contractor
From single custom estates to entire communities — structural wood framing built straight, square, and on schedule.
GMR Construction is the Lowcountry's specialist structural framing contractor. Since 2011 we've framed luxury custom homes at The Ford Plantation and Palmetto Bluff, and delivered full-community house framing packages for production builders across Savannah, Pooler, and Richmond Hill. Every stick of rough carpentry we set is plumb, level, and true — and built for coastal Georgia's wind-zone code.

Community & production framing
Crew capacity to frame entire subdivisions — consistent quality, predictable cycle times, clean sites.
Engineered structural systems
Roof trusses, I-joists, LVL and steel beam integration, hurricane strapping and coastal wind-zone compliance.
Dried-in on schedule
We coordinate with your GC and inspectors so downstream trades start on time.
What a GMR Structural Framing Package Includes
House framing is the skeleton every other trade builds on. A GMR rough carpentry package covers the full structure — floor, walls, and roof — set to the engineer's sealed plans and ready for inspection the first time.
Floor Systems
Sill plates, rim boards, dimensional joists and I-joists — subfloor glued and fastened so it stays flat and quiet for the life of the home.
Wall Framing
Straight, plumb stud walls with correctly sized headers, shear-wall nailing schedules, and tall-wall engineering where the design calls for it.
Roof Structure
Roof trusses set and braced to spec, stick-framed roofs where the architecture demands them, and LVL or steel beams placed exactly where the engineer drew them.
Coastal Wind-Zone & Hurricane Strapping
Coastal Georgia and Lowcountry South Carolina sit in high-wind design zones, and the framing inspection is where that gets enforced. GMR builds a continuous uplift load path into every structure — hurricane straps and tie-downs from the ridge, through the wall plates, down to the foundation anchors — using the connectors and nailing schedules the sealed plans specify. It's the part of house framing you never see finished, and the part that matters most when a storm comes up the coast.
Custom Home vs. Production Execution
A one-of-a-kind estate at The Ford Plantation and the eightieth house in a Pooler subdivision demand different disciplines — and GMR runs both. Custom home framing gets the slow-hands treatment: complex rooflines, exposed structure, architect-driven detail. Production framing gets systems: consistent crews, predictable cycle times, and clean, inspection-ready sites that keep a builder's schedule intact. Builders: see our production framing program →

House Framing — Common Questions
What is hurricane strapping, and is it required in Savannah?
Hurricane strapping is metal connector hardware that ties a house’s roof, walls, and foundation into one continuous load path so high winds cannot lift the structure apart. In coastal Georgia and South Carolina wind zones it is required by code, and it is verified at framing inspection. GMR installs the straps, tie-downs, and nailing schedules the sealed plans specify on every build.
Do you install roof trusses and engineered lumber?
Yes. GMR sets and braces roof trusses, frames with I-joists and LVL beams, and integrates steel where the engineering calls for it — always to the engineer’s sealed plans.
How long does it take to frame a house?
It depends on size and complexity: a straightforward production home frames in days, while a large custom home with complex rooflines takes longer. Weather and inspection scheduling also play a role. When we bid your plans we commit to a dried-in date and hold it.
Can you frame from my architect’s plans?
Yes — that is the standard workflow. Send the architectural and structural drawings and GMR will do the framing takeoff, return an itemized bid, and build exactly what the sealed plans show.
